Puan Ensures DPR Will Review IKN Response To Proposed Changes In Airport Status And Position Houses
JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, confirmed that there was a meeting between the leaders of the DPR to discuss the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN).
The meeting discussed a request from the Chairman of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono to change the status of IKN airport from what was previously only intended for VIPs to public airports.
"Earlier, there was a meeting between the leadership of the DPR which was attended by Pak Cucun, Pak Saan and Pak Dasco, which was one of the things discussed by the DPR, a request from the chairman of the IKN authority, Mr. Basuki, to be able to change the status of the IKN airport, which was previously only used by VIPs to become public airports," said Puan at the DPR building, Senayan, Thursday, July 24.
Puan said the DPR would immediately follow up on the proposal.
He said the leadership of the DPR together with members of the relevant commission plans to conduct a review of IKN before discussing further the proposed IKN airport to be used for the public.
"This will be followed up by the DPR after we conduct a review. The plan is that in the future it will be determined, the nearest time, the leadership of the DPR together with members of the DPR related to IKN will conduct a review," said Puan.
"To decide whether the airport is suitable for changing its status from only being used by VIP to public airport," he continued.
In addition, Puan said, the meeting also discussed the proposed expansion of office houses and other houses to be used in IKN. During a visit to IKN, the DPR will also see if the expansion is feasible.
"And then there is also a request for expansion of office houses and other houses, the extent of that will also be reviewed by the leadership of the DPR and members of the DPR To see if it is appropriate for expansion or how many houses are needed in IKN," he said.
Puan said the final decision regarding these two proposals would be taken after a field review was carried out.
"After that, we will decide whether we will agree or not, and other things that are needed," concluded Puan.

Previously, the DPR received a letter from the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) which was read out at the DPR plenary meeting at the DPR building.
The letter sent by OIKN is B152/Head/Directorate of IKN/VII/2025 dated July 21, 2025. However, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Adies Kadir, did not reveal the contents of the letter.
According to him, a letter related to consulting changes to the master plan of the capital city of the archipelago. "Regarding the request for consultation for changes to the master plan of the capital city of the archipelago," he said.
