Coordinating Minister Zulhas Calls China's Rice Production To Lengkuas Higher Than Indonesia

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan said Indonesia's rice production is currently still far below China.

According to him, this is because China adopts technology in running agriculture.

Zulhas, as Zulkifli Hasan is familiarly called, said that one hectare (ha) of rice farming land in Indonesia can only produce 5 tons of rice. Meanwhile, China produces 10 tons.

"I take for example, if we plant rice, our productivity is 1 hectare of 5 tons. China can be 10 tons. Because of technology, it is superior and others," he said at the Green Impact Festival, at the Djakarta Theater, Jakarta, Thursday, July 23.

Not only rice, Zulhas said that China's gross commodity production is also higher than Indonesia. He said that for one ha of land, the harvest in Chinese square could reach 15 tons.

"If we talk about something else, what is simple, do it," said Langkuas. If we are 1 hectare of 1 ton, China can reach 15 tons in 1 hectare. So 15 times higher in productivity," he explained.

Zulhas also revealed that China is also building its national strategic food reserve system, as well as expanding agricultural land with smart farming.

"To avoid dependence on imports, China is also massively using AI technology, for weather predictions and soil patterns. Not to mention (again), the development of material priorities," he said.

According to Zulhas, technology in the world of agriculture is a promising investment. Because, by adopting technology, farmers can also lose time in planting so that they can increase production results.

" Adopting agricultural technology is not a cost burden, but an investment for higher, faster, and sustainable results," he said.

In Indonesia, said Zulhas, technology has also begun to adopt in the world of agriculture to cut planting time.

We have started several places, we use a combine plant plant to clean. 1 hectare with humans, 1 hectare is 24 days for pum. But with this combine, 24 hectares, 1 day," he said.
