The Case Of The Death Of 3 Residents At The Wedding Of Dedi Mulyadi And Inspector General Karyoto Was Taken Over By The West Java Police
JAKARTA - The police transferred the handling of the case of a deadly incident at the people's wedding party of the son of the Governor of West Java Dedi Mulyadi and the Kapolda Metro Jaya Inspector General Karyoto to the West Java Police level. This decision was taken to deepen the investigation process which is still ongoing.
"West Java Police have taken over and the case is being handled by the West Java Regional Police," said Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko in Jakarta, Thursday, July 24.
Previously, the incident that occurred in the courtyard of the Garut Regency Hall caused three people to die and dozens more were injured by pushing each other during the free food queue.
The event was part of a people's party in the context of the wedding of Luthfianisa Putri Karlina, the eldest daughter of Inspector General Karyoto who now serves as Deputy Regent of Garut, with Maula Akbar Mulyadi Putra, Dedi Mulyadi's first child.
The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Hendra Rochmawan, said that the investigation is now under the coordination of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the West Java Police.
"The follow-up plan for the examination is to make a letter of invitation for clarification to a number of parties," said Hendra.
The parties who will be invited for questioning include the Assistant General Administration of the Garut Regency Government, five members of the police who were on duty at the time of the incident, Kasatpol PP, the organizers (GP WO and NAW WO), the Meguanesia vendor, the victim's parents, and a number of residents around the scene.
Meanwhile, the Garut Police, who previously handled this case, examined 11 witnesses until July 21. They were asked for information regarding the moment when the crowd pushed each other, causing the victim to be trampled on.
"The Garut Police have examined 11 witnesses for questioning during the pushing and trampled action of the crowd who want to enter the Garut Regency Hall," said Hendra.

Until now, no suspect has been named in the tragic incident. The police stated that they were still investigating the elements of negligence and responsibility of the parties involved in the implementation of the event.
