Polri Appoints 6 Priority Polda To Handle Forest And Land Fire
JAKARTA - The National Police appointed six Regional Police to handle cases of forest and land fires (karhutla). The National Police said that cases of forest and land fires have now decreased by 81 percent.
"There are 6 priority Polda, such as Riau, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan and also South Sumatra," said Head of Public Relations of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono in his statement, Thursday, May 6.
Not only appointing six Polda to prioritize handling forest and land fires cases, coordination with related agencies will also be improved.
According to Argo, coordination aims to suppress the case. Even if there are cases of forest and land fires, the handling will be maximized.
"Of course there apart from the Police Headquarters there is communication, coordination with related agencies, at the regional police level there is also coordination on how to prevent there," said Argo.
Previously, the National Police claimed that the number of cases of forest and land fires (karhutla) had decreased drastically by 81 percent. The decrease in the number of cases occurred in the period 2019 to 2020.
"The point is that in the forest and land fire activities between 2019 and 2020 there was an 81 percent decrease in terms of hotspots and the area of land burned," said Argo.
In the future, Argo continued, the prevention of forest and land fires cases will be carried out using advanced technology. One of them is installing CCTV cameras at various points.
"For example, we install a CCTV with a radius, zoom distance, we can see forest burners that were not caught red-handed. We can see who the perpetrators are there so they can zoom, can rotate 360 degrees. There are several points that we communicate with telkom, from other agencies. , "said Argo.
In addition, an integrated command post and patrol will be built. Meanwhile, prevention efforts are also carried out by providing education to the public.
