Coordinating Minister For Human Development And Culture Cak Imin Asks For An Increase In Active BPJS Participants, Target Gen Z To Informal Workers

Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment (Menko PM) Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) asked the President Director of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Pramudya Iriawan Buntoro to increase the active participation of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan through various approaches. The goal is to achieve the target of 57.5 million active participants by 2025.

This was conveyed by Muhaimin when submitting Presidential Decree No. 63/P of 2025 concerning Dismissal and Appointment of Inter-Time Substitutes of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Directors for the remainder of the 2021-2026 term to Pramudya and Eko Nugriyanto as Director of BPJS Employment Participation.

"Increasing participation requires an innovative, aggressive, collaborative and creative strategy so that we can achieve the participation target optimally," said Coordinating Minister Muhaimin in a written statement, Wednesday, July 23.

Cak Imin explained that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan can focus on increasing the participation rate by targeting vulnerable, migrant and informal workers.

In particular, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan can target generation Z who already understands financial literacy to become BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants.

"Focus on vulnerable workers, migrant workers and the informal sector. BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is expected to make meaningful breakthroughs," he explained.

So that it can reach informal sector workers, which is a large number. Especially workers in rural areas, Gen Z, who are literate with various financial literacy," continued Muhaimin.

Not only that, Muhaimin stated that BPJS Employment must also be firm with large and small companies to register their workers in the labor security program.

"We make sure that all companies, both large and small, including migrant worker agencies, comply with their obligations to register workers in social security programs," he said.

On the other hand, Coordinating Minister Muhaimin stated that BPJS Employment plays an important role in poverty alleviation efforts according to President Prabowo Subianto's mandate in Presidential Instruction 8/2025.

This is because BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is one of the social cushions so that people who experience diversity or work disasters do not fall into poverty.

"We hope that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, which has a strategic position, will become an integral part of the community empowerment process," said Muhaimin.
