Tight Competition, Mikel Arteta Predicts Eight Teams Can Win The Premier League

JAKARTA - Competition in the English Premier League will be tighter. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta predicts there are eight teams that have the opportunity to win the 2025/2026 league title season.

Arsenal, last season, finished second after being 10 points adrift of Liverpool who later won the Premier League for the 20th time. Liverpool also equaled Manchester United's record and they both became the team that won the Premier League the most

Arsenal's 'presitation' was only able to become runner-up for the third time in a row. Almost being a league champion three times put Arteta, who has handled the Gunners for five years, under pressure.

The reason is, Arteta can only once bring Arsenal to win the FA Cup. Meanwhile, the Community Shied, which Arsenal won twice, was nothing more as a warm-up game ahead of the start of the Premier League competition.

Arsenal won the Premier League last time in 2004 when it was handled by Arsene Wenger. And, Arsenal became The Invicibles because they never lost when they won the Premier League.

When he returned to the 2025/2026 season competition, Arsenal did remain the seed and took second place after Liverpool as the favorites to win. Furthermore, Manchester City and Chelsea became the third and fourth favorites.

Interestingly, last season's MU almost relegated actually took the fifth advantage after Newcastle United. MU is predicted to start competing because the team is considered to understand more about Ruben Amorim's manager's playing pattern.

Moreover, Amorim succeeded in wooing Sir Jim Ratcliffe to bring in forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

The teams that continue to make improvements make the competition this season even tighter. Even Arteta predicts that there are eight teams that have the same opportunity to win the league title.

"Every season, competition is more competitive. The level always increases. This makes us required to continue to improve our capabilities," Arteta told The Sun.

"We always see the team's progressing. They have a balance in maturity, experience, young players and hunger [win]. All mix in each team," he said.

"So I estimate that there are six seven or even eight clubs in the league that are able to combine them appropriately to win. But in the end, only one is the winner," said Arteta again.

Arsenal themselves strengthened the team by bringing in Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Kepa goalkeeper Arrizabalaga and winger Noni Madueke.

Furthermore, the North London club is trying to bring in Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokores and Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera. Arsenal in total, will spend 200 million pounds for the league title emraih.

"So we have to focus on things that we can control. We will make every effort to achieve what is our target at the end of the season," he said.

"We are indeed very active in the transfer market. But the main thing is that players must improve their abilities. We also have to build a strong fundamental pillar and basis during pre-season. We hope they are fully ready to start the competition," he said.
