Commemorating National Children's Day, KemenPPPA Invites Children To Learn Empathy Values Through Educational Films

JAKARTA In commemoration of National Children's Day (HAN) 2025 which is celebrated every July 23, the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) continues to intensify the protection and fulfillment of children's rights through various educational approaches.

One of them is by inviting hundreds of children from various backgrounds to watch films full of moral messages.

Carrying the theme 'Great Children, Strong Indonesia Towards Golden Indonesia 2045', this activity collaborates with a number of parties, including non-governmental organizations and creative industry players, to create a fun and meaningful learning room for children.

On Sunday, July 20, 2025, around 400 children from flats, orphanages, and vulnerable groups were invited to watch an animated film titled JUMBO at CGV Grand Indonesia, Jakarta.

This film is known to have an educational side because it tells about the importance of friendship, self-confidence, and courage to face bullying.

The Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Arifah Fauzi, said that National Children's Day is an important moment to reaffirm the commitment of all parties in creating a safe, inclusive environment, and supporting children's growth and development.

This National Children's Day commemoration is our common opportunity to reaffirm the importance of protecting children from all forms of violence and discrimination. Films like Jumbo can be a means of learning that is fun but meaningful for children," said Arifah.

He also emphasized that strengthening children's character needs to be done from an early age, including by instilling values such as respecting each other, not bullying, and helping each other.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of the Waroeng Imaji Foundation, Dovieke Angsana, said that this activity also aims to open a space for reflection and social learning for Indonesian children, especially those under the protection of the state.

"We hope that through activities like this, children can learn the value of empathy, diversity, and the important meaning of true friendship. This is part of efforts to grow positive character from an early age," said Dovieke.

Film as a learning medium is considered to have its own strength to reach out to children, especially when it is packaged lightly and close to their daily lives. This activity also provides a pleasant experience for participants by providing snacks and educational play tools.

More than just entertainment, this kind of activity shows that a creative and collaborative approach can be an important part of the national movement in shaping a strong, intelligent, and competitive generation of Indonesia in the future.

"Not only as a means of entertainment, we hope to become a fun learning and inspiration space for children and the younger generation through the screening of child-friendly films, educational programs such as kids field trips in cinemas, as well as providing creation containers and providing collaboration in positive activities, one of which is at the momentum of National Children's Day," said CEO of CGV Cinemas Indonesia, Mr. Mark Nah.
