There Are No Outlets In Padang Yet, Indomaret Boss: Licensing Issues

JAKARTA - Marketing Director of PT Indomarco Prismatama, Wiwiek Yusuf revealed that there are still many areas that have not been touched by the Indomaret retail network. One of them, Padang, West Sumatra.

Regarding the absence of Indomaret in Padang, Wiwiek said the problem was not due to business readiness, but the aspect of local regulations.

"Padang, we haven't entered yet. But our Aceh has entered. If Padang is due to more licensing," Wiwiek said when met at the GP Ansor Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 22.

Furthermore, Wiwiek said that not only Indomaret, modern retailers are also unable to enter the area.

"Indeed, if I see it's fair, they can't enter, they can't enter all of them," he said.

Wiwiek said that his party is targeting to open 1,000 outlets this year. The plan to open this outlet is also targeting eastern Indonesia.

According to Wiwiek, the eastern region of Indonesia is still not covered by the Indomaret retail network. The reason is because it is still mapping to regulate logistics shipments.

"Timur is more about logistics, we have to arrange logistics, how logistics can get to remote areas, we have to arrange everything, before entering there we have to arrange logistics," he said.

Regarding Alfamart, which had already entered the Rote Ndao area, NTT, Wiwiek considered it a business dynamic.

"Yes, definitely. Sometimes Indomaret goes first, sometimes there is Alfamart first. Yes, we will definitely enter gradually," he said.
