Seeing Raden Saleh's Painting Live At The NYALA Exhibition, Menbud: Rare And Rare Opportunities For The Young Generation

JAKARTA - Minister of Culture (Menbud) Fadli Zon officially opened the 'Starting' Exhibition: 200 Years of Diponegoro War' at the National Gallery of Indonesia, Central Jakarta on Monday, July 21 evening.

This exhibition presents artwork related to the Diponegoro War, in the form of paintings, statues, installations, sketches, and media art (Imersive, Augmented Reality, Video). In addition, there are also artifacts in the form of archives, scripts, coins, and books related to the Diponegoro War.

"This NYALA exhibition is an opportunity for us to re-read the meaning and cultural impacts of the Diponegoro War through contemporary art exhibitions," said Fadli Zon in his speech at the exhibition inauguration ceremony.

Highlighting the artwork presented, Fadli expressed his appreciation. The presence of the works of cross-generational artists is also a place for the community to see the journey of Indonesian art, especially fine arts.

There is a masterpiece painting that is rarely seen by the public in person. And this is a very important opportunity, namely the painting by a figure who is the greatest "I think" in the history of Indonesian fine arts, namely Raden Saleh, with his painting, 'Diponegoro'," said Fadli.

Apart from Raden Saleh, other artists whose works are exhibited in the NYALA Exhibition include Adryan Adinugraha x Fahira Herniman (Tab Space), Alfiah Rahdini, Aliansyah Caniago, Arafura, Arief Witjaksana, Basoeki Abdullah, Candrani Yulis, Daoed Joesoef, Fadriah Syuaib), Galam Zulkifli, and Hardi.

In addition, there are also I Wayan 'Kun' Adnyana, Irene Agrivina x HONF, Tandet Kuswedananto, Mahdi Abdullah, Misbach Tamrin, Nasirun, PATRA PADI, S. Sudjojono, Sutjipto Adi, Ugo Untoro, Yani Mariani Sastranegara, Yoes Rizal, Yosep Arizal, and Yunizar.

Meanwhile, the works of the artists displayed were curated by Citra Smara Dewi, Dio Pamola Chandra, and Putra Hidayatullah.

Furthermore, Menbud Fadli Zon hopes that the 'STREAM' Exhibition: 200 Years of the Diponegoro War, which is also present to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Indonesian Independence, can be appreciated by the wider community.

"Hopefully this exhibition can be appreciated by the community as much as possible, because this is a very rare and very rare opportunity, especially for the younger generation," concluded Fadli.
