Ministry Of Religion Affirms That Traveling Takbiran Is Not Permitted In Anticipation Of Crowds

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion emphasizes that the public is not allowed to carry out the traveling takbir which is usually done at the end of Ramadan. The reason is that the traveling takbir can invite crowds and there is a fear of transmission.

"The traveling takbir activity is eliminated to anticipate crowds," reads one of the points in the circular letter No. SE 07/2021 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Eid Al-Fitr Prayers in 1442 H / 2021 M during the COVID-19 Pandemic, quoted by Antara, Thursday, May 6.

The circular also contained the implementation of takbir at the mosque. Basically, people can hold takbir at a mosque or prayer room without being affected by the risk zone for transmission.

It's just that the capacity is regulated, namely the mosque / prayer room occupancy rate is not more than 10 percent and still observes standard health protocols by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and avoiding crowds.

"Takbiran activities can be broadcast virtually from mosques and prayer rooms according to the availability of telecommunications equipment at mosques and prayer rooms," he said.

If you compare it with the previous guidance letter for the implementation of Ramadan worship number 03 in 2021 at the beginning of the fasting month, the implementation of Ramadan can only be done in the green and yellow zones. Meanwhile, the red and orange zones are not allowed.

On the capacity side, the green and yellow zones may hold various Ramadan activities at the mosque / prayer room, but only 50 percent of it.

Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said the guide was published in order to provide a sense of security to the community and not reduce the euphoria of Eid al-Fitr.

"Guidelines were issued in order to provide a sense of security to Muslims in holding Eid prayers as well as helping the country in preventing the spread of COVID-19," he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Religion had published guidelines for the implementation of the Idul Fitri 1442 Hijriyah prayers. People who want to hold Id prayers at the mosque / field must coordinate with the local government, the Task Force for handling COVID-19, and local security.

The directive is intended so that the organizing committee for the Id prayers will know information on zoning status and prepare supervisors so that the standard COVID health protocol is carried out properly, safely, and under control.
