Meta Will Change WhatsApp On Windows To A Worse Web Version

JAKARTA Some time ago, WhatsApp launched a genuine application for iPad users. Now, the company plans to replace the original WhatsApp application for Windows users.

Launching from The Verge report, the latest version of the WhatsApp application will be built with a web wrapper. This latest version will display a different interface and way of working compared to the previous version of the app.

With this change, the workings of notifications and user interfaces (UI) for the settings are made simpler. However, users can still access important features that were previously designed only for mobile users.

For example, users can access the Channel feature. In the future, the Status to Community feature will also be added to the Windows app version to equalize the user experience on various platforms.

The latest app for Windows is still being developed in beta testing. Reportedly, the app leverages Microsoft's Edge WebView 2 technology.

By using this technology, Meta can now easily package web versions into desktop applications. Meta also now only needs to manage one code base, instead of having to manage the original Windows application as a whole.

Basically, this is a detrimental change for Windows users, especially for those who expect old app and UI relief. This beta version of WhatsApp for Windows will use more RAM.
