Looking At The Largest Indonesian Export Commodities To The US, Which Is The Champion?

YOGYAKARTA - Indonesia has close trade ties with the United States. Our various export commodities flood the US market every year. However, of the many products, do you know which one is the prima donna and contributes the greatest value?

Let's explore more deeply. This article will thoroughly explore the largest Indonesian export commodities to the US, and reveal the dominance of certain products that may be unexpected.

Reporting from Statista, since President Trump announced a reciprocal tariff policy in April 2025, Indonesia and the United States trade relations have entered a new chapter full of dynamics.

With this policy, unfortunately, Indonesia was immediately subject to an import duty of 32 percent, making it the sixth highest tariff in Southeast Asia.

Please note, over the years, Indonesia has always enjoyed a trade surplus that is consistent with the US. Although exports to the US only account for about ten percent of Indonesia's total exports (this figure is indeed lower than several neighboring countries), the United States remains the second largest export destination in Indonesia, losing only to China.

Seeing this fact, it is clear that any shift in US trade policy can have a significant impact on the Indonesian economy. With the "termination period" of 90 days continuing, crucial questions also surfaced: What strategic steps will Indonesia take during this critical period?

Until then, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that the import rates for Indonesian products entering the US will be set at 19 percent. This decision is touted as a direct result of negotiations between him and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

"Indonesia will pay a 19 percent tariff to the United States for all imported goods from them to our country," Trump said in a statement monitored from his social media account, Truth Social.

This 19 percent figure indicates a significant decline from the initial 32 percent rate Trump first announced in April.

It should be noted, previously, until early July, Trump was still adamant at 32 percent, even sending an official White House cooperation letter dated July 7, 2025 to President Prabowo.

This agreement is certainly a major focus in the dynamics of trade relations between the two United States and Indonesia.
