KPK Opens Opportunities To Check Bobby Nasution Regarding Bribery For The Road Project Of IDR 231 Billion North Sumatra

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the opportunity to summon North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution was open. He could be questioned regarding the alleged bribery of road projects at the PUPR Service and PJN Satker Region 1 North Sumatra (North Sumatra).

The anti-corruption commission has named Typhoon Obaja Putra Ginting as the former Head of the North Sumatra Province Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office as a suspect. His wife, Isabella, has also been summoned by the KPK to investigate the Rp2.8 billion money found during a search at his home.

"KPK is open to the possibility of calling, to conduct an examination of anyone," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters quoted on Tuesday, July 22.

Budi emphasized that investigators certainly needed information from other parties to resolve the alleged bribery. However, in the process of deepening the information from witnesses who were first summoned, it will definitely be done first.

"We are still investigating the results of the examination of the suspects or witnesses that have been carried out," he said.

"This includes exploring the results of searches that have been carried out in the field, both at the North Sumatra Provincial PUPR Office, cities and districts, then at the PJN Center. All are still being collected, the information and information are being investigated to support this case," continued Budi.

As previously reported, the KPK held a hand arrest operation (OTT) in the North Sumatra region on Thursday, June 26. It is suspected that money was given in the road construction project in the province.

From this forced effort, the anti-corruption commission then named Typhoon Obaja Putra Ginting or Typhoon Ginting as the Head of PUPR Office of North Sumatra Province as suspects along with four other people. They are Effendi Siregar's Rasul as the Head of the Old Mountain UPTD of the North Sumatra Province PUPR Service concurrently the Commitment Making Officer (PPK); Heiyanto as PPK PJN Satker Region I North Sumatra Province; M. Akhirun Efendi Siregar as the President Director of PT DNG; and M. Rayhan Dulasmi Pilang as Director of PT RN.

The Typhoon was in the spotlight because it was inaugurated as the Head of PUPR on February 24 by the Governor of North Sumatra Bobby Nasution. He previously served as Head of the Public Works Service or the Department of Water Resources, Highways and Construction Development of Medan City and had served as Acting (Plt) of the Medan City Secretary when the son-in-law of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia sat as Mayor of Medan.

The KPK revealed that there were six road construction projects with a budget of IDR 231.8 billion that were suspected of bribery. The details are as follows:

1. Preservation of Jalan Simpang Pinang-Gunung Tua-Simpang Pal XI 2023 (project value of Rp56.5 billion);2. Preservation of Jalan Simpang Kota Pinang- Gunung Tua-Simpang Pal XI 2024 (project value of Rp17.5 billion);3. Rehabilitation of Jalan Simpang Kota Pinang-Gunung Tua-Simpang Pal XI and handling of avalanches 2025;4. Preservation of Jalan Simpang Kota Pinang-Gunung Tua-Simpang Pal XI 2025;5. Construction of Jalan Sipiongoit boundary Labusel (project value of Rp96 billion); and 6. Construction of Jalan Hutaimbaru-Sipiongot (project value of Rp61.8 billion).
