Flying To Manado, Minister Of Transportation Dudy Meets Victims Of Passengers KM Barcelona V

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi met the victims of the KM Barcelona V ship at the Manado Harbormaster Office Post and Port Authority (KSOP) and the ODSK Hospital in North Sulawesi.

Dudy expressed his concern over the burning of the KM Barcelona V ship in the waters of Talise Island, North Minahasa, North Sulawesi.

"I express my deep concern over the tragedy that occurred on the Barcelona VA Motorboat on Sunday, July 20, 2025. On behalf of the government, I would like to express my condolences to the victims and the families of the victims," said Dudy in an official statement, Monday, July 21.

Dudy said the Ministry of Transportation had coordinated, both with the Navy, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla), the Health Office, and related parties to monitor and carry out the evacuation process and further treatment of all patients.

"Since the ship fire incident occurred, I have directly instructed the ranks of the Ministry of Transportation and related stakeholders to speed up the process of rescue and evacuation of accidents," he said.

"I continue to ensure that all passengers receive good treatment. Our focus now is on handling victims," he continued.

Dudy said the evacuation process for KM Barcelona V passengers had been completed. All survivors have been in Manado and Likupang. Meanwhile, the deceased has been taken to Bhayangkara Manado Hospital.

"The latest data obtained by the number of ship passengers is 280 people. Even so, this data will still be verified and updated by the SAR team," he said.

Dudy also expressed his gratitude to the fishermen who at the time of the incident immediately provided assistance, to the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, to all joint SAR teams, and all related parties.

"Thank you to the entire joint SAR team in the evacuation and rescue process for the passengers of KM Barcelona VA," he said.
