TANJUNG SELOR Governor of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Zainal Arifin Paliwang inaugurated the Office and Outlet of the Red and White Village Cooperative (KDMP) of Apung Village, Bulungan Regency, in collaboration with Perum Bulog Kaltara.

The inauguration was carried out to coincide with the launch of the KDMP and the Red and White Village Cooperative (KKMP) simultaneously by President Prabowo Subianto virtually centered at KDMP Bentangan Village, Wonosari District, Klaten Regency, Central Java.

"The establishment of the Red and White Village Cooperative (KMP) is the main driver of the people's economy," said President Prabowo, Monday, July 21.

Governor Zainal said that the KDMP of Apung Village was designated as a pilot cooperative (mock up) in the Kaltara region and was expected to be the locomotive of village economic independence.

"KDMP Apung Village is one of two pilot cooperatives in this province, together with the Red and White Village Cooperative (KKMP) of Selumit Village, Tarakan City," said Zainal.

Governor Zainal revealed that the determination of the KDMP of Apung Village in Bulungan Regency and the KKMP of Selumit Village, Tarakan City has met the criteria, namely having at least six service outlets such as basic necessities, fertilizers, LPG, finance, logistics, and business cooperation based on local potential.

"The establishment of KDMP or KKMP is not just an administrative program, but a national strategy in building a village-based populist economy," said Zainal.

"This is a real embodiment of Asta Cita towards Indonesia Gold 2045. We start from the village, from the power of the people themselves," he added.

Governor Zainal explained that currently there are a total of 482 villages and sub-districts in Kaltara that already have a Red and White Cooperative, both independently and in a combined form.

The existence of this cooperative is expected to shorten the distribution chain of basic needs, create jobs, and become a more efficient distribution channel for government assistance.

"This inauguration is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a long-term commitment and encouraging all levels of local government," he explained.

Starting from villages to provinces, to continue to provide guidance, assistance, and strengthening cooperative governance in order to be able to become a healthy, strong, and independent people's economic motor.

"I invite all to make cooperatives a big house for the people's economy and a place for hope, cooperation, and the spirit of mutual cooperation," he concluded.
