Prabowo Says Oplosan Rice Cases Not Only Occur In Indonesia: Malaysia Is Again Excited Too

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto said that this fraudulent practice of rice commodities did not only occur in Indonesia, but also in Malaysia. He stated this in the Launch of 80,000 Village/Kelurahan Merah Putih Cooperatives, in Klaten, Central Java, Monday, July 21.

"Naughty, ordinary rice just changes premium stamps. But this happens in many countries, in Malaysia it's also excited," said Prabowo.

However, he stressed that Indonesia should not allow this to continue without action.

Following up on this report related to the fraudulent mode, Prabowo instructed law enforcement officials to investigate and indict the gas of business actors involved.

"The National Police Chief, the Attorney General, please chase the stubborn. Let the Rp 100 trillion enter every year," he ordered.

The President stated that the state has a strong legal basis for acting, referring to Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution as the ultimate weapon to uphold justice and protect the interests of the people from the exploitation of rogue business people.

"We have very big strength whose name is the 1945 Constitution, Article 33. This is the spirit of our republic, this is the spirit. If this weapon is the ultimate weapon, we just have to be brave or not," he said.

The Minister of Agriculture (Mentan), Andi Amran Sulaiman previously in a working meeting with Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives said that 26 manufacturers suspected of mixing rice were examined by the National Police Food Task Force.

As many as 40 other people are said to be following soon in the process of further investigation. The losses of this case range from Rp. 99 trillion.

"Yesterday on the 10th, 26 people were examined. That's the report and we will continue to follow it. There are 40 more to be examined," he said.
