PBNU: Must Do Eid Prayers With Strict Prokes, Takbiran At Each House

JAKARTA - PBNU Secretary General Helmy Faishal Zaini appealed to the public not to go home before Eid to avoid a spike in COVID-19 cases. Moreover, currently there is a new variant of the COVID-19 mutation that has entered Indonesia.

"Homecoming as a medium for gathering is a good tradition, but due to the pandemic situation, avoiding the risk of transmission, not doing homecoming is more important," Helmy told VOI, Thursday, May 6.

According to him, friendship is one of the teachings highly recommended by Islam as well as a medium that can be used to reinforce the values of brotherhood. However, he said, friendship can be done in many ways.

"In the context of facing a pandemic like today, friendship and halal bihalal can be done in ways that minimize physical contact as much as possible. Gathering can be done virtually," Helmy explained.

"This in no way reduces the value and essence of friendship. Because the main thing is to connect feelings of affection," continued the PKB politician.

Then, for the implementation of the Eid prayers in congregation on Eid al-Fitr, Thursday, May 13, it can be carried out with strict health protocols and in coordination with the government or the local COVID-19 Task Force.

"As for the takbiran, it can be done at each house without going around the village to avoid crowds in the midst of the pandemic," said Helmy Faishal.
