The Ministry Of Industry Calls Standardization A Solution For The Batik Industry To Face Global Market Dynamics
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) said, standardization such as SNI Batik, Indonesian National Work Competency Standard (SKKNI), Batikmark, Halal Certification and Green Industry Certification are solutions to the batik sector in the face of global market dynamics.
The Director General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita, said that standardization is a strategic solution that needs to be applied by batik industry players to face the challenges of globalization.
"Each of these standardizations guarantees an aspect, such as SNI for product quality, SKKNI for the competence of craftsmen, Batikmark for product authenticity. Meanwhile, Halal and Green Industry are special standardizations that have the potential to expand market access even abroad," said Reni in her official statement, quoted Monday, July 21.
Reni emphasized that standardization is not only important for business continuity in terms of production, but also provides added value to the branding aspect, aka branding.
"In the midst of increasing consumer awareness of issues of authenticity, aesthetics and environmental sustainability, certified batik has a greater chance of becoming the main choice of consumers," he said.
Therefore, as a concrete effort in building understanding and awareness of the importance of standardization, the Directorate General of IKMA in collaboration with the Indonesian Batik Foundation (YBI) held an online Standardization-themed Webinar on the Batik Industry on July 7, 2025.
This activity is part of a series of events for the Nusantara Batik Title (GBN) and National Batik Day (HBN) in 2025.
The webinar presents speakers from regulators and practitioners, such as the Director of Standard Strengthening and Assessment of the Compliance of the National Standardization Agency, the Asesor of Industrial Quality Management of the Center for Standardization and Services of the Crafts and Batik Industry as well as the Director of the Yogyakarta Batik Akasia.
The peak of the series of celebrations of GBN and HBN 2025 will be marked by the Nusantara Batik Title Exhibition, which will be held on 30 July-3 August 2025 at Pasaraya Blok M, Jakarta.
The exhibition will present superior batik products from various regions in Indonesia as well as a public educational event regarding the importance of standardization in maintaining the quality and heritage of batik culture.

"This activity can be a synergy space between business actors, the community and other stakeholders in strengthening the foundations of the national batik industry. This is because the sustainability of the batik industry is strongly determined by collective awareness of the importance of implementing quality standards," he said.
Through these activities, Budi also hopes that all stakeholders can play an active role in supporting the sustainability and competitiveness of the national batik industry.
"Batik is not just cloth, but a cultural identity that has great economic power when maintained, its standards are strengthened and introduced in a sustainable manner," he concluded.
