To The KPK, Busyro Muqqades And PP Muhammadiyah Talk About Managing The Mining Sector

JAKARTA - PP Muhammadiyah and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) held a closed meeting at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta today. A number of discussions were held, including the matter of mining governance.

"(There is, red) hearing activities, one of which is conveying the results of a study conducted by PP Muhammadiyah friends related to governance in the mining sector," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters in a written statement, Monday, July 21.

Present at the meeting were Busyro Muqqades, the former chairman of the KPK who currently serves as Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah for Law, Human Rights and Wisdom.

"The study will be enrichment for the KPK in carrying out the tasks of eradicating corruption, either through educational efforts, prevention, prosecution and coordination," said Budi.

"Moreover, natural resources are one of the sectors that has a high potential for corruption," he continued.

Meanwhile, Busyro Muqqodas did not explain the discussion about mining in the audience. Instead, he talked about the continuation of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) for preventing corruption at the university level.

The MoU was signed in the era of Agus Rahardjo's leadership or the 2014-2019 period.

"That the MoU, which was previously signed by PP Muhammadiyah with Pak Agus Rahardjo, was still ongoing on July 18," said the KPK office.

"... Well, we want to continue and be welcomed with pleasure and openness. So we PP Muhammadiyah also appreciate, express our gratitude because this is indeed the need for Muhammadiyah and the needs of the KPK as well," concluded Busyro.
