Oleksandr Usyk Will Rest After KO Daniel Dubois

JAKARTA The world heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk, has confirmed he will take a two to three months gap after ensuring victory over Daniel Dubois.

The Ukrainian fighter won the undisputed world heavyweight title for the second time after dropping Dubois in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium, London, England, on Sunday, July 20, 2025, morning WIB.

Usyk setelah kemenangannya itu menolak untuk menentukan langkah selanjutnya, termasuk kemungkinan pertandingan kembali dengan Dunois.

"Nothing is next. It's enough. Next, I want to rest. (Want to be together) my family, my wife, my children. I want to rest now. Two or three months," he said.

The latest victory made Usyk managed to keep the record unbeaten in 24 professional duels. Of these, 15 of them won knockout (KO).

Many boxers have the opportunity to be the first to beat Usyk. There is a possibility of a trilogy with Tyson Fury, Joseph Parker, Derek Chisora, Anthony Joshua, and of course a rematch with Dubois.

Usyk said he could not confirm who the fighter would be his next opponent because he wanted to share time with his family after a long preparation against Dubois.

"I don't meet my family, my wife. Every day I live with my team, with 14 people, in one house. Every day only the faces are the same. Now I want to go home," he said.

The victory over Dubois left Usyk officially the world champion undisputed three times. Before the two titles were in the heavyweight class, he had also done it in cruiserweight.

The result against Dubois made Usyk enter the ranks of the undisputed heavyweight champion twice with Muhammad Ali and Floyd airing. However, he was the first boxer to do so in the era of the four belts.
