Coach Hopes For Alwi Farhan Matang At China Open 2025

JAKARTA The men's singles coach, Indra Wijaya, hopes that his team's play will mature and be consistent when he performs the China Open 2025 which will take place this week.

The last Super 1000 BWF level tournament this year is scheduled to take place on July 22-27, 2025 at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Center, Changzhou, China.

Alwi is one of three Indonesian men's singles who will play in the tournament. He took part with two of his seniors, namely Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

"For Alwi, of course I want to see the process of maturity and consistent games can come out at the 2025 China Open," said Indra in a statement received by the media crew.

This is the second tournament played by the three men's singles over in two consecutive weeks. Previously, they appeared at the Japan Open 2025 last week, the result of which was far from satisfied.

In the Super 750 BWF level tournament, Jonathan and Ginting both immediately fell in the first half. Meanwhile, Alwi suffered defeat in the second half against Alex Lanier.

"If you look at Alwi's performance at the 2025 Japan Open, I am quite satisfied. However, in a non-technical way there are still obstacles," said Indra.

On the other hand, China Open 2025 is Ginting's second tournament after a comeback from a shoulder problem that recurred after he appeared at the Malaysia Open 2025 in January 2025.

Indra said that Ginting's appearance was not disappointing after he had not played on the competitive field for a long time.

"I appreciate Ginting's comeback, he is taking the day to day from healing, strengthening, returning to normal training, and finally returning to the tournament. It's not easy," he said.

Alwi will start the first round of the 2025 China Open with a tough challenge. The reason is, he immediately met the first seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn from Thailand.

Meanwhile, Ginting and Jonathan both started their journey against Singapore representatives. Ginting met Jia Heng Jason Teh and Jonathan in conflict with Loh Kean Yew.

Indonesia has deployed a total of 13 representatives at the China Open 2025. The other ten consist of men's doubles and three mixeds each and three singles and two women's doubles each.
