The irresponsible activity of flying kites around Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) has again caused major problems.

Reporting from Antaranews, as many as 21 aircraft were forced to cancel their flight schedule and land at the busiest airport in Indonesia. This incident occurred in the period 4 to 6 July 2025, triggering serious loss of time and potential harm.

Responding to this, AirNav Indonesia conveyed a strong warning to the public. They asked residents not to play kites around the airport area, especially on critical routes to take off and land planes.

Responding to the widespread disruption caused by kites around the airport, the Soekarno-Hatta Region I Airport Authority Office (OBU) took serious steps. They urge all levels of society not to carry out activities that could endanger flight operations in the area around the airport.

Head of OBU Region I Soekarno-Hatta, Putu Eka Cahyadhi, emphasized the importance of collective awareness. This appeal is not without reason, because these objects have the potential to disrupt flight routes and endanger the safety of thousands of passengers.

As a manifestation of his seriousness, Putu added that the OBU Region I Office had coordinated with the local government and the airport community. As a result, they agreed to form a Joint Task Force.

The Task Force was formed to seriously deal with kite disruptions and other air objects through synergy, coordination, and active roles of each stakeholder.

This Joint Task Force will have three main focuses: counseling and guidance to the public about the dangers of kites, controlling in the field if violations are found, and law enforcement in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

This step is expected to create a safer airport environment and ensure smooth flight operations.
