Riau Police Arrest Perpetrators Of Land Burning In Kuantan Singingi
Riau Police through the Kuantan Singingi Police revealed the naughty practice of land clearing by burning land in Kalimanting Village, Benai District, Kuantan Singingi Regency.
Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan said that in this case, a man named Supardi alias Supar was arrested and named a suspect. Strict action was taken because it was part of the Green Policing strategy that was consistently applied by the Riau Police, as a form of responsibility for protecting the environment and public safety from the dangers of smoke and damage to the ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Riau Police, Kombes Anom Caribbeanto, explained that the perpetrator was a resident from Pekanbaru City who was secured by the Kuansing Police Satreskrim Team on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at around 11.00 WIB.
The perpetrator is known to have deliberately burned his rubber land to be converted into an oil palm plantation.
"Sending from public reports, officers conducted investigations and checked the location. After pocketing the identity of the perpetrator, the team made arrests and the perpetrator admitted his actions," said Anom.
During the arrest, two pieces of burnt wood and one piece of mancis were also secured as evidence.
The legal process against the perpetrators is currently underway. He was charged with Article 108 of Law Number 39 of 2014 concerning Plantation, with the threat of a maximum prison sentence of 10 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 10 billion.
The Kuansing Police have also taken a number of further steps, including witness examination, coordination with the Prosecutor's Office, collecting additional evidence, and planning a case title.
Expert examinations will also be carried out to strengthen criminal elements in the investigation process.
The Riau Police appealed to all communities, especially land owners and plantation business actors, not to clear land by burning.
"Riau Police will continue to carry out intensive patrols and monitoring. We will take firm action against any violations indiscriminately. Protecting Tuah, Maintaining Marwah, that is our spirit," said Anom.
Riau Police also invites the public to proactively report if they find indications of land burning in their area, as part of joint efforts to prevent the smog disaster that often occurs in Riau.
