Rano Karno Will Visit The Bukit Duri Fire Location That Killed 4 Children: If The Atmosphere Is Normal

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno said he would visit the location of the large fire that occurred in the Bukit Duri area, South Jakarta, immediately after the atmosphere tended to be normal.

Because according to him, official visits to disaster sites often cause crowds that have the potential to disrupt team operations in the field. So he chose to wait for a more conducive situation before directly inspecting the location.

"If the atmosphere is a bit normal, then we come. So as not to hinder the operations there," said Rano Karno in Jakarta, Saturday, July 19.

"Sometimes, if you come to that place, it's not helping, it actually makes you chaotic. Yes, I'm sorry maybe people are enthusiastic about welcoming it, but you're monitoring it," he continued.

Rano also ensured that the handling of the fire that killed 4 children went smoothly. He also emphasized that all relevant service ranks had moved quickly even without special instructions from regional leaders.

"All service has moved, we don't use instructions anymore, it's already running. It's already autopilot," he said.

Previously, the Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta, Isnawa Adji, stated that four people died as a result of a fire incident that occurred on Jalan Kutilang, Bukit Duri, Tebet, South Jakarta, Saturday, July 19. All of them are children.

"Four people died," Isnawa said in his statement, Saturday, July 19.

The victims were identified as Putri Lafina (13), Khairunisa (3), Azkia (7), and Azizah (4). Currently, the bodies of the four have been taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital.

Based on reports received, said Isnawa, the fire first appeared at around 06.20 WIB. In the extinguishing process, dozens of officers were deployed.

"20 Disgulkarmat Units, P2B BPBD, PMI, AGD Health Office, Transportation Agency, Satpol PP, PLN, PSKB/Tagana Social Service, Polsek Personnel and Koramil Personnel," he said.

Regarding the cause, from a temporary investigation, the fire appeared due to an electrical short circuit. However, further examination is needed to confirm it. As a result of the fire incident, several houses were burned to the ground. The loss is estimated at hundreds of millions. "The estimated loss is IDR 674 million," said Isnawa.
