PSSI Doesn't Want Criticism To Launch To Indonesian Players Or Coaches
JAKARTA - PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir expressed an open and firm attitude in facing public criticism of national football's achievements.
He stated his readiness to accept blasphemy if there were mistakes in the steps to build Indonesian football.
However, he requested that criticism not be directed at players and coaches who have worked hard and fought for the name of the nation.
"I am ready to be blasphemed, as well as the PSSI management, if there is something we have done wrong."
"However, don't delegate everything to players or coaches who are struggling in the midst of high competition between Asia and the world," said Erick Thohir in a statement quoted on Friday, July 18, 2025.

This statement follows the pessimistic attitude of a handful of netizens after the results of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Fourth Round draw, which placed Indonesia in Group B with Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
The chairman of PSSI emphasized the importance of maintaining the spirit and unity of the Indonesian national team ahead of the qualification.
"With all humility, I ask, do not divide the Indonesian national team. Provide maximum support. If something is lacking, keep it to me, not to the players," he said.
Meanwhile, Erick Thohir appreciated the highest grassroots supporters who were consistent in attending the stadium and always supported the Indonesian national team, both in winning and losing.
He called the supporters the foundation of the irreplaceable national football spirit.
"I salute militant supporters who come and faithfully support the Indonesian national team, win or lose".
"Singing together after the match. They become a fire of enthusiasm for the players' struggle," he said.
