Indonesia's Clean Energy Mix Is Only 15.25 Percent
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported that until July 2025 it had only reached 15.25 percent. Previously, throughout 2024, Indonesia's net energy mix only reached 14.68 percent.
"And we see that the 2024 mix is only 14.68. As of today, only 15.25. This means that the end of the new year is 15.90s or 16 percent of the EBT mix in energy mixes," said Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) Eniya Listiyani Dewi quoted Friday, July 18.
With an energy mix that has only reached 15 percent, Eniya said the energy mix target of 23 percent by 2025 cannot be achieved.
"Actually this year but the roadmap has never been achieved," continued Eniya.
Realizing the target of the mix which is still stagnant, Eniya decided to change the method by involving business actors before making a decision regarding the target. Eniya said, before formulating a policy target, he first summoned business actors providing EBT to ask for their ability to pursue the targets requested by the government.

"Now I'm turning back on how to make the roadmap. Hydrogen is the same way. Bioethenol. Who can afford it? And what year? So we go back," continued Eniya.
Eniya admitted that the energy mix target could not be achieved and would only be realized in 2030. For this reason, the energy mix target has also been changed and adjusted to the concept in the Electric Power Supply Business Plan (RUPTL).
"The RUPTL until 2034 has 42.6 GW. So 7 percent of electricity in the next 10 years, 71 percent of it is already EBT," said Eniya.
Previously, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) again lowered the target for the new and renewable energy mix (EBT) in the national primary energy mix by 2025, from 23 percent to between 17'20 percent.
