I'm A Victim Of Instagram Fraud: Nico Siahaan Highlights Loose Social Media Ads
JAKARTA - Member of Commission I DPR RI from the PDI-P faction, Junico Siahaan or who is familiarly called Nico Siahaan hopes that the platform can oversee more fraudsters circulating in buying and selling transactions that occurred on social media. Because, it had become one of the victims.
He conveyed this anxiety during the RDPU Panja Broadcasting Commission I of the DPR RI with the Google, Youtube, Meta and Tiktok platforms.
"I am one of the victims of an Instagram advertisement. I am talking about what it is because I was cheated, that's why I want to ask here. Because the installation of the advertisement does not have a screening, the con artist can also be advertising. So where is the responsibility? " said Junico quoted Friday, July 18.
According to him, if you don't want to be equated with other broadcasting rules, this social media platform must conduct more selection and work on its own homework
"I bought something, it wasn't the original seller. So we personally have to do the selection. Well, if friends say that we shouldn't be the same, the evidence doesn't want to be the same, but friends don't do their own homework. So it's not fair (if compared to other broadcasting rules) ) " he said
Nico hopes that social media platforms can curate more about the circulating advertisements. Thus, consumers can be protected from sharing potential interference or criminal acts of fraud.

"Come on, the arrangements are even tighter, don't let someone be deceived. The ad is legal. There is a sign 'ads', yes, I believe it. I bought it, it turned out to be a fraud. If in the marketplace it was never, at least the bad thing was wrong, because the marketplace supervised it and curated it, that's why we shopd," he said.
"If it can't be curated, then don't let advertising be fair. If you don't want to be responsible, there should be no buying and selling advertisements on the platform. Now this is part of our supervision so that this is part of consumer protection too," said Junico.
