Resigning From Pearl Hours, Matt Cameron Makes Sure He Doesn't Want To Retire
JAKARTA - Matt Cameron has declared his resignation from his position as drummer for Pearl Jam, but he denies the assumption that the decision was taken because of his desire to retire.
As is known, Cameron officially left Pearl Jam on July 7. He ended his journey with the Seattle grunge icon after 27 years.
"After a fantastic 27 years, I have taken my final step on the drum stage for the powerful Pearl Jam," Cameron said, citing an Instagram post caption, Friday, July 18.
"A lot of love and respect for Jeff (Ament), Ed (Vedder), Mike (McCready), and Stone (Gossard) for inviting me to the band in 1998 and giving me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, which is full of friendship, art, challenges, and laughter," he added. "I am forever grateful to the crew, staff and fans around the world. This is an extraordinary journey. There will be further news. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart."
Cameron did not publicly reveal the reasons behind his decision, but through another statement on Instagram Story, the 62-year-old drummer said it was far from the word musical pension.
"Thank you for the support. And for the record, I'm still an active musician," said Cameron, answering the assumption briefly and firmly.
