BMKG: Beware Of Extreme Weather And Rob Floods In A Number Of Areas Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that thick cloudy weather will cover most areas of the provincial capital in Indonesia on Friday, July 18.

BMKG forecaster Andika Hapsari said, starting from Sumatra Island, the weather is predicted to be cloudy in Pekanbaru and Tanjung Pinang cities, while Banda Aceh and Medan are predicted to be thick cloudy.

"The weather is forecasted by smoke or fog in the Padang City area," Andika said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday morning.

Still on the island of Sumatra, the weather is predicted to be cloudy for the Jambi and Palembang areas, as well as light rain in Bandar Lampung.

"Be aware of the potential for rain that can be accompanied by lightning in the Bengkulu and Pangkal Pinang areas," he said.

Turning to Java Island, the weather is predicted to be cloudy in the city of Semarang, thick cloudy in the city of Yogyakarta, and the air is running away in the city of Surabaya.

Serang, Jakarta, and Bandung cities have the potential to rain with light intensity.

Moving to the areas of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, the weather is predicted to be cloudy in Denpasar and Kupang cities, and thick cloudy in Mataram City.

Furthermore, it shifted to the island of Kalimantan, the weather was predicted to be cloudy in Banjarmasin, thick cloudy in Pontianak and Samarinda, and the air ran away in the Tanjung Selor area.

"Light rain has the potential to occur in Palangkaraya City," said Putri.

"Meanwhile, the cities of Nabire and Merauke are predicted to rain with moderate intensity," he said.

In addition, BMKG also warned of the potential for tidal flooding that could occur on the coasts of Jambi, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, West Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and South Papua.

The maximum temperature reaches 33 to 34 degrees Celsius and is also predicted to occur in Bengkulu, Medan, and Pekanbaru, so that people in the area are advised to always wear shields such as hats and sunscreen when doing outdoor activities.
