Makes Proud, Asmara Abigail Appointed As Jury At The 78th Locarno Film Festival In Switzerland

JAKARTA - Reporting from Locarno Film Festival, Indonesian actress, Asmara Abigail, was officially appointed as a judge at the 78th Concorso Cineasti del Presente at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.

Asmara Abigail will join as a jury with prominent figures from the world of art and international films, including La Frances Hui (Director of the Film Department at Museum of Modern Art - MOMA, New York) and Kani Kusruti (actrist of the film All We Imagine as Light).

Known for its cross-border work and creative sensitivity, Asmara stepped into this role as a voice representing not only Indonesia but also a wider Southeast Asian narrative in the global cinema.

The 78th Locarno Film Festival was founded in 1946. The Locarno Film Festival itself has long been a champion in cinematic innovation, launching brave filmmakers through the Pardi program in Domani and celebrating extraordinary filmmakers with the Leopard award.

The 78th edition, which takes place on August 6-16, 2025, will award Alexander Payne with the Leopard of Honor and Lucy Liu awards with the Achievement of Life.

This year, the festival also welcomes Asmara Abigail as a judge of Concorso Cineasti del Presente.
