Against Barrios, Pacquiao Asks Fans Not To Worry

JAKARTA Manny Pacquiao asked fans not to worry about his ability when he got into the ring for the title fight against Mario Barrios, who was much easier.

The Filipino fighter is scheduled to board the ring against Barrios at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, United States, on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Both names will contest the WBC welterweight title.

Pacquiao admits that fans are definitely worried about his decision to get into the ring again after a long retirement and his current age. However, he is confident because he has been actively practicing.

"The fans may be worried about my condition, but you know, that's why I need to prove that I'm not a fighter like that," he said, reported by Boxing Scene.

Pacquiao is back in the professional ring at the age of 46 or for the first time since August 2021 and against Barrios who is 16 years younger than him.

The boxer from the Philippines has had this game after six years since he won his last professional win in 2019 against Keith Thurman.

Many doubt this decision because of the age difference between the two names. They assess Pacquiao's ability has faded compared to his heyday as world champion.

"I'm a fighter who can work hard, like I used to do when I was young. I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of action next Saturday and fans will be happy," said Pacquiao.

Pacquiao had time to get back into the retirement ring, but only for the game titled the less impressive exhibition against Rukya Anpo in July 2024.

Even so, Pacquiao is one of the greatest boxers of all time ever, a global icon, and legend. During his heyday, he was recorded as having won eight divisions.

On the other hand, Barrios from the United States, 30 years old, has a record 29 wins, one draws, and two defeats in 32 professional fights.
