Mother Selling Children Can Be Suspects, Babies Ordered Since In The Content To Be Sent To Singapore

The West Java Regional Police revealed that the perpetrator of the baby trade with the initials AF had ordered a baby from the womb to be sent to Singapore.

Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, Kombes Hendra Rochmawan, said that in this case the parents of the pregnant baby communicated with the perpetrator with the initials AF through Facebook social media.

"AF contacted the baby's parents who advertised the baby who was still in the womb via social media, namely Facebook. Then agreed to meet," said Hendra as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 17.

Hendra said communication continued until it was close to delivery. An agreement was made after the baby was born, parents would receive Rp10 million from the perpetrator.

However, the perpetrator only transferred Rp600 thousand to pay the midwife's fee, and immediately took the baby without keeping his promise.

He said the parents who felt cheated finally reported to the police. From the report, it was revealed that the perpetrators of AF were part of a baby trafficking syndicate that had been operating since 2023.

"This AF perpetrator came from Bandung and from his confession he had made transactions for at least 25 babies," said Hendra.

The West Java Regional Police have named 13 people as suspects, and six babies were rescued before being sent to Singapore.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the West Java Police, Kombes Surawan, emphasized that his party was still investigating the motives of parents who sold babies to Singapore.

Surawan conveyed that parents who sell babies to the perpetrators can have the potential to be suspects if they meet the criminal element because they deliberately trade babies.

"According to one victim's statement because of economic motives, we are still investigating the origin of the babies, whose parents, what was the motive, while still investigating the statements of the recruiters," he said.
