Russia Plans To Restore Bodies Of 3 Thousand Ukrainian Soldiers
JAKARTA - Russia and Ukraine have exchanged more bodies of their soldiers who died in the war. This is part of the agreement reached in the second round of peace negotiations in Istanbul last June.
As reported by Reuters, Vladimir Medinsky, head of the Russian delegation in the peace negotiations, said Moscow had handed over the bodies of 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers and received the bodies of 19 of its own soldiers who died in return.
State news agency RIA reported citing a source that Russia plans to return the bodies of 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers. The exchange on Thursday, July 17, is the beginning of the process.
The warring parties have carried out a series of exchanges of arrested troops and the bodies of soldiers who have died since the peace negotiations in Istanbul resumed in May after more than three years of pause.
