Israeli Attack Hits Catholic Church In Gaza, Father Often Infects Pope Francis Injured
JAKARTA - Two women were killed and several injured after an Israeli airstrike that hit a Catholic parish in the Gaza Strip.
Reported by Reuters on Thursday, July 17, the airstrikes damaged the Kudus Family Church, the only Catholic Church in the Palestinian territories.
The Vatican did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Israeli military Defense Forces (IDF) said it was investigating the incident.
The Italian news agency, ANSA, reported six people were seriously injured.
It was also reported that the parish priest, Pastor Gabriele Romanelli, who routinely gave the latest news to the late Pope Francis about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, suffered minor injuries to his legs.
"Israel's attack on Gaza has also hit the Kudus Family Church," Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in a statement.
"Attacks on civilians that Israel has carried out for months are unacceptable. No military action can justify such an attitude", he continued.
