Koenigsegg Remains Loyal To Burning Machines Affirms Electric Hypercar Market Is Still Low
JAKARTA - The founder of the Swedish hypercar, Koenigsegg, Christian von Koenigsegg, has just confirmed that a new model is coming soon. However, don't expect this car to be fully electric.
Christian von Koenigsegg, in an interview with Top Gear, quoted Thursday, July 17, revealed that the entire production line of Koenigsegg has now been sold out.
"We have nothing left to sell," he said.
However, this does not mean fans should be disappointed. Koenigsegg plans to introduce a new model in the next one to one and a half years, meaning the launch could take place in 2026 or early 2027.
Interestingly, Koenigsegg insists that this new car will not be fully electric. Christian von Koenigsegg conveyed his unique views on electric cars. Although he admires the responsiveness and subtlety of electric cars, he feels that the cars are "slight as robots," lacking "dialog" and "the soul" found in combustion engine powered cars.
"After a while, if you're a car fan, you seem to want to talk to him, don't you? You want to have a dialogue," said CvK.
"You want to hear how he feels and his mood. You want a pulse, pump, heat, sound, dental movement, all aspects that make him alive," he added.

In addition, Koenigsegg also noted that the market appetite for electric hypercars at this level is still very low. He compared this situation to the watch industry, where mechanical watches are in demand again after being shifted by quartz watches. According to him, Koenigsegg's car offers "more performance on track than any EV because it is lighter," and has aspects of "swiss watchmaking in the form of a car."
However, Christian von Koenigsegg has not completely closed the possibility for electric cars in the future.
"Maybe one day, who knows. Maybe there is something. But right now, we are happy with what it is," he concluded.
