IPhone 17 Air Will Be The Only Model With Titanium Materials: Here's The Reason

JAKARTA - Apple is rumored to be replacing the iPhone Plus model with a new model called the iPhone 17 Air. This flagship device will come with a very thin design, predicted to be a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.

But different from other iPhone 17 series, the iPhone 17 Air will most likely be the only one using premium material in the form of titanium.

As a flashback, Apple was criticized for its easily twisted iPhone 6 Plus when it was stored in its pocket. This problem was then fixed on the iPhone 6s using a stronger aluminum frame. In 2023, one of the main highlights of the iPhone 15 Pro is the use of a titanium frame, which makes the device lighter and more durable.

Now, the latest reports claim that only the iPhone 17 Air will maintain the use of titanium, while other models in the iPhone 17 series will use aluminum.

This is considered reasonable, considering that the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be the thinst model with a thickness of only 5.4 mm. In such a thin design, titanium will be very useful for maintaining the strength of the structure while reducing the weight of the device.

Apple is believed to be using titanium and aluminum alloys, a combination that allows the device to remain strong but light. The weight is estimated to almost match the Galaxy S25 Edge which is only 16 grams. Thus, the iPhone 17 Air can be an ideal choice for users who prioritize sleek designs without sacrificing endurance.

While the iPhone 17 Pro model is said to be getting bright and flashy color options, the iPhone 17 Air is likely to come in a more calm and elegant color choice, in line with its minimalist and premium design concepts.

For now, information about the iPhone 17 Air is still limited, but its presence is expected to be a particular attraction in this year's iPhone launch. We look forward to its official update from Apple in the near future
