PalmCo Supports Improvements Of Hundreds Of Educational And Worship Facilities In Various Regions

JAKARTA - PTPN IV PalmCo supports the improvement of hundreds of educational and worship facilities in various regions in Indonesia. This support is Palmco's commitment to expanding the social benefits of the company through the distribution of assistance worth more than IDR 4 billion.

The assistance reaches 225 points of public facilities, ranging from schools, Islamic boarding schools, houses of worship to social institutions that accommodate orphans and the elderly.

President Director of PTPN IV PalmCo, Jatmiko K. Santosa, ensured that his company always participates in taking a real role in community social development. He said this contribution is part of the company's sustainability strategy, which is one of the main focuses of targeting the education sector.

"We believe that the existence of the company must give meaning. Therefore, our operational sustainability must be in line with the increasing quality of life of people who do not only reach around the company," said Jatmiko in his statement to reporters, Wednesday, July 16.

At least, there are 89 schools at various levels receiving assistance from Palmco with a total value of more than Rp1.6 billion. The form of assistance also varies, ranging from physical improvements to school buildings, repair of computer laboratories, new classrooms, to supporting facilities such as toilets, air conditioning, laptops, and projectors.

For example, the Pontianak DISMK-SMTI, an activity entitled PalmCo Goes to School, was held by presenting practitioners from the palm oil industry to share direct experiences with students. The Principal of SMK-SMTI Pontianak, Marwandi said, this activity can expand student insight as well as bring the industrial world closer to education.

In addition to secondary schools, early childhood education institutions also received attention. One of them is PAUD Istiqomah which received assistance worth IDR 50 million. This assistance is used to support teaching and learning activities.

The head of PAUD Istiqomah Suriana expressed his gratitude for the assistance that was very useful and needed. "God willing, we will use it as well as possible to increase the comfort and enthusiasm of learning for our children," he said.

PalmCo's attention has also spread to religious-based educational institutions. A total of 12 Islamic boarding schools received total assistance of more than Rp. 617 million. One of them is the beneficiary, namely the Roudhatul Ulum Islamic Boarding School which is located on the outskirts of the Siak River, Siak Regency, Riau.

The head of the Foundation, Arifin Achmad Tualang Ustadz Afrianto, said that the assistance from PTPN IV was a form of continuity in paying attention to the pesantren that had been established two years ago.

In the past they helped us when we were first standing, now coming back with a different program. This is clear evidence that PTPN IV was not only present once and then left," he said.

Arifin also revealed that most of the students at the pesantren came from underprivileged families.

Many of them come with enthusiasm, not material. We from the foundation provide relief, because our goal is to provide good access to education and morals for the younger generation of the village," he explained.

In addition to the world of education, PalmCo support is also aimed at vulnerable groups. There are 19 units of orphanages and nursing homes receiving benefits, begipula hundreds of orphans in various regions.

The total value of assistance in this sector reaches more than Rp258 million, which includes scholarships, compensation, and rehabilitation of buildings.

Meanwhile, the house of worship is the largest point in the distribution of PalmCo social assistance, with 105 objects receiving total funds of more than IDR 1.58 billion.

The assistance was given to mosques, prayer rooms, churches, and tahfiz houses in the form of renovations of buildings, procurement of worship tools, construction of towers, carpets, to sound systems and conditioning rooms. One of the places of worship that received assistance was the Nurul Islam Mosque in Tertang Baru Village, Batanghari Regency, Jambi.

Until mid-2025, the total PalmCo social assistance has reached various provinces such as Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan to Sulawesi which directly targets community needs. This program is also expected to continue as part of PalmCo's journey to become a social-friendly agribusiness company.
