NTB COVID-19 Mask Corruption Case, PPK Procurement Project Detained

The Mataram City Police (Polresta) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has detained a commitment-making official (PPK) for the COVID-19 mask procurement project for the 2020 fiscal year, Kamarudin.

Head of the Mataram Police Satreskrim AKP Regi Halili confirmed the detention of Kamarudin who was one of six suspects in the corruption case in the procurement of COVID-19 masks.

"Yes, as of today we have detained the person concerned," he said in Mataram, Wednesday, July 16, as reported by Antara.

Investigators detained him for the first 20 days at the Mataram Police Detention Center after examining Kamarudin in his capacity as a suspect. The examination is carried out with the assistance of legal counsel.

"Before we finally arrested him, we had also carried out health test procedures at the Bhayangkara Mataram Hospital," he said.

Kamarudin is the second suspect to officially serve the detention of investigators. The first suspect to undergo detention was Wirajaya Kusuma, Karo Ekonomi of the NTB Regional Secretariat in the capacity of the Head of the NTB Cooperatives and MSMEs Service

"So, today is one. Later for other suspects it is the same (contained detention), one by one," he said.

In this case, there are six suspects with two suspects who have already been detained. The other four have not, namely the former Deputy Regent of Sumbawa Dewi Noviany who is the younger brother of former NTB Governor Zulkieflimansyah, Chalid Tomassoang Bulu, M Haryadi Wahyudin and Rabiatul Adawiyah.

In handling this case, 120 witnesses have already undergone examination. Likewise, collecting evidence by collecting expert information and audit results on the calculation of state financial losses (PKKN) from BPKP NTB with a value of Rp1.58 billion from the nominal procurement of Rp12.3 billion.

In determining the suspect, investigators applied Article 2 paragraph (1) and/or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning amendments to Law no. 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
