Manny Pacquiao Opens Up The Possibility Of A Duel Against Gervonta Davis

JAKARTA The former eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, opened up the possibility of getting into the ring against Gervonta Davis after finishing clashes with Mario Barrios this weekend.

Pacquiao, who is now 46 years old, returned from retirement and underwent a professional battle against Barrios on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.

Pacquiao also opened up against Davis after the match for the WBC welterweight world title.

"I love the fight against Davis, but let's finish (the fight against) Barrios first," Pacquiao told The Ring Magazine.

Plans against Davis have started blowing since Pacquiao hinted at a comeback in 2023 or two years after he lost to his last professional and retired Yordenis Ugas.

At that time Pacquiao even wanted to fight in the catchweight class to catch Davis's attention as the WBA lightweight world champion.

"This is nothing personal. I'm just doing my job. One by one. We'll talk about it again after the fight," Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KO) and Davis (30-0-1, 28 KO) are both left-handed boxers with a height of 175 centimeters. Both are fighters with high speed and an identical range of 192 centimeters.

Pacquiao has been fighting exclusively as a welterweight boxer since 2009. Davis has only fought once above the lightweight limit in recent years, namely KO's victory over Barrios in June 2021.

Pacquiao's decision to return to professional boxing against Barrios has actually drawn a lot of criticism. His ability is considered to have faded and fought a fighter who 16 years younger is considered too risky.
