MA Bans Sea Sand Exports, Trenggono Will Report To Prabowo
JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono admitted that he respects the decision of the Supreme Court (MA) which prohibits sea sand exports. However, he admitted that he would go before President Prabowo Subianto to report the decision.
Trenggono said Prabowo is currently on a working visit to several countries and has not returned to the country.
"Yes, soon (it will be reported), after he returns home," Trenggono told reporters in Jakarta, written Wednesday, July 16.
According to Trenggono, his party has not been able to discuss further steps related to the Supreme Court's decision regarding sand exports. Even so, he ensured that currently his party was following the Supreme Court's decision.
"Later, we will follow what is decided by the Supreme Court. But wait for the President," said Trenggono.
For your information, the Supreme Court has banned sea sand exports. The prohibition is contained in the copy of decision number 5 / P / HUM / 2025 issued on June 2, 2025.
The panel of judges ordered the respondent, namely the president, to revoke Government Regulation (PP) number 26 of 2023 concerning Management of sedimentation Results at sea.
SEE ALSO:
One of the considerations of the Supreme Court justice is that the PP as a result of sedimentation at sea contradicts higher laws and regulations, namely Law (UU) Number 32 concerning Marine Affairs.
The Supreme Court also assessed that PP No. 26 of 2023 was formed without the basis of an order from the law or not being explicitly ordered by law.
In addition, Article 56 of the Marine Law also does not regulate sea sand mining for sale. Therefore, according to the Supreme Court, sea sand mining is contrary to the meaning of Article 56 of the Marine Law.
