KLH Gives 30 Days To Improve Waste Management In Jakut Market

The Ministry of Environment (KLH) has given 30 days to 30 markets in North Jakarta that are subject to administrative sanctions to improve waste management in their area.

"We only limit at least 30 days, after that all markets must follow the rules provided by the Ministry of Environment," said Minister of Environment (LH)/Head of the Environmental Control Agency (BPLH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq in a review of waste management in Cilincing District, North Jakarta, Tuesday, July 15.

Minister Hanif explained that the KLH/BPLH ranks had completed field verification of 30 market units in Jakut which would be subject to administrative sanctions to improve waste management in their area.

"Today is entering the Deputy for Law Enforcement at the Directorate of Administrative Sanctions. So hopefully this week there will be administrative sanctions," he said.

If the market management does not improve waste management, he reminded that there is a potential for weighting sanctions and even criminal law enforcement measures that can be taken.

Previously, KLH announced that it would impose administrative sanctions on the government's coercion to around 30 markets located in Jakut whose territory is a pilot project for national waste management.

This step was taken after the KLH/BPLH conducted a review for several weeks to a number of points in Jakut, including in markets that are one of the areas contributing to waste other than those from households.

According to the National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN), the Jakut area produces around 1,396 tons of waste per day by 2024, with a total reporting of 509,694 tons generated in that period.
