Ministry Of Environment Confirms Will Sanction Companies In Air Pollution Industry Areas

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment (LH)/The Environmental Control Agency (BPLH) will impose sanctions on tenant companies in industrial areas that are proven to have contributed to Jabodetabek air pollution.

Minister of Environment and Forestry Hanif, Faisol Nurofiq, said that his party had provided guidance to 5 of the 33 industrial areas in Jabodetabek.

"However, it seems that we will be a bit strong. So to this day we have only entered 5 industrial areas out of 33 industrial areas in Jabodetabek. The rest of us will no longer talk," said Hanif during an emission test for goods truck vehicles in North Jakarta, Tuesday, July 15, confiscated by Antara.

"The remaining 33 are reduced by 5, we will immediately visit and just direct penalties," he added.

He said the companies in the remaining 28 industrial areas that had not received assistance from the KLH/BPLH could be subject to administrative sanctions if they were proven not to follow environmental rules and contribute to air pollution.

The administrative sanctions themselves include fines that contribute to non-tax state revenues, which will be used to improve the quality of the environment.

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry is also processing the laws of 15 major and medium-sized industries that melt steel.

"Today it is being processed by law. So a criminal process is being carried out and its activities are also closing," said Hanif.

Previously, KLH said that it had prepared 52 administrative sanctions given to tenants in a number of industrial areas, which were given to contribute to the decline in air quality in Jabodetabek.
