Joint Green Action Against Climate Crisis: Government and Taman Safari Plant Trees in Bogor

BOGOR – The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) in collaboration with Taman Safari Bogor launched the *National Simultaneous Tree Planting Program* as a concrete effort to mitigate climate change and promote environmental conservation on Monday, July 14, 2025.

The event took place at the Villa Hijau area of Taman Safari Bogor and was led directly by the Minister of Environment and Forestry, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq. The program is part of a national initiative to increase forest cover and improve air quality across Indonesia.

“This simultaneous tree planting is not merely symbolic—it is a tangible manifestation of the government's commitment to safeguarding the environment for future generations,” Hanif said in his speech.

He added that the initiative is also a strategic step to support Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 29 percent by 2030.

Hanif expressed his appreciation for the contribution of Taman Safari Bogor, which he commended for its consistent support of national forestry programs. He also extended his gratitude to PTPN and other private sector stakeholders actively involved in environmental preservation.

“Taman Safari’s contribution in providing the site and technical support reflects the private sector’s genuine commitment to environmental sustainability,” he noted.

Alexander Zulkarnain, Acting Chief Marketing Officer of Taman Safari Indonesia Group, affirmed the institution’s commitment to being a strategic partner of the government in conservation efforts.

“This collaboration proves that environmental conservation is a shared responsibility,” he said.

In addition to its focus on conservation, the program also emphasizes education and raising public awareness about the importance of protecting the environment. Taman Safari Bogor was chosen as the location due to its role as a center for conservation education.

“We hope this activity inspires the public to take part in environmental preservation—whether by planting trees or adopting eco-friendly lifestyles,” Alexander concluded.

The National Simultaneous Tree Planting Program is a strategic initiative by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, implemented in multiple regions including the Cisarua area in West Java. It aligns with efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to climate action and life on land.
