DPR Is Considered To Play A Role In Canceling The 18 Square Meters Subsidy House Program
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) finally canceled the proposal regarding the discourse on limiting the minimum area of subsidized houses to 18 square meters. Lecturer of the Public Administration Department of Andalas University, Ilham Aldelano Azre, assessed the cancellation of the proposal, one of which was thanks to the role of the DPR.
"Fortunately, the DPR moved quickly to voice the people's rejection. This means that the DPR also has an important role in the cancellation of the proposed 18 square meter subsidy house which is considered inhumane," said Ilham Aldelano Azre, Monday, July 14.
As is known, this discourse began when the Ministry of PKP proposed the area of subsidized houses to 18-36 square meters, while the land area was 25-200 square meters. This size is smaller from the previous provision, namely 21-36 square meters and a minimum land area of 60 square meters.
The proposal for subsidized houses with an area of only 18 square meters was also received sharp criticism from various circles, from members of the DPR to the public, because they were considered inhumane.
Azre assessed that the criticism proves that the DPR continues to be the link between the voices of the people.
"The DPR is not just a form of criticism, they loudly reject the idea of a small house because it is considered inhuman. Their pressure and encouragement were vital, until finally the idea was canceled," he said.
"This shows that the DPR as the legislative body is not just a 'stamp' but a strategic partner who oversees policies to side with the people, through the implementation of its supervisory function," continued Azre.
Azre also considered this quick step from the DPR as good news. Because according to him, the cancellation of the proposed 18-meter subsidy house shows a real synergy between the DPR and the government.
"Positive synergy between the government and the DPR can give birth to policies that really favor the people. Cancellation of houses with an area of 18 square meters is a clear proof of the success of inter-institutional collaboration," he said.
Azre also hopes that good harmony between the DPR and the government can continue to be carried out in discussing other policies needed by the community.
"In the future, we hope that this spirit will continue to be maintained, especially with Mr. Prabowo as President, a proper housing program must be a priority. Don't let this noble program run aground just because of an idea that is not mature and doesn't think about feasibility," he concluded.
