Duri Station Intensive KRL Users, KAI Commuter Proposes Revitalization

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia or KAI proposed to the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation to revitalize Duri Station.

The reason is, the station is now getting more and more crowded to serve KRL users.

KAI Commuter President Director Asdo Artriviyanto explained that his party proposed Duri Station to be revitalized because the station is increasingly crowded with users every day.

"Duri, even though it has been built by DJKA, yes. But the capacity is now getting more and more crowded, right. Now we also propose this for revitalization," he said at the Performance Achievement and KAI Commuter Service for Semester I Year 2025, in Jakarta, Monday, July 14.

Currently, said Asdo, the Ministry of Transportation's DJKA has just completed the first phase of the revitalization of Tanah Abang Station for the second switch over (SO). However, there is still an advanced stage.

Until now, for the revitalization of the new station, there are two programs from the government. Tanah Abang is still continuing, it's just the second SO. There are still the third and fourth stages," he said.

Same with Manggarai. Manggarai is also not finished. There are still some unfinished routes, the ones above, which are elevated. This will be completed soon by the government. Including Rangkasbitung he continued.

Asdo said the proposed station revitalization was not a sudden proposal.

He said, in the process of revitalizing this station, it started with a study and proposal by KAI Commuter as the operator. Then, the results of the study were followed up by the government.

"This station is for transit, for flow, no longer meets the requirements, then it is necessary to increase capacity and so on, we provide data so that the government plans," he explained.

According to Asdo, revitalization regarding rail infrastructure, signaling, and electricity from the upper flow is the government's authority.

While KAI Commuter as the operator can only propose.

"So for this revitalization, I have conveyed earlier, yes, for infrastructure, then starting from signaling, then electricity from the upper flow, it is indeed the authority of the government and it is the duty of the government. So we from the operator propose," he said.
