Sad News Comes From Sukabumi, Dozens Of Jampangtengah Residents Are Poisoned By Cendol Ice

JAKARTA - Mass poisoning occurred in Sukabumi Regency, West Java, this time dozens of residents in Jampangtengah District were poisoned after consuming a drink of cendol ice which they bought from an ice vendor.

"There were 34 residents who experienced symptoms of poisoning, from Kampung Cigolendag RT 38 and 39 RW 10, Kampung Cileungsir RT 41 and 42, RW 10, Sindangresmi Village Jampangtengah District. This happened after they enjoyed cendol ice from an ice vendor", said Head of Jampangtengah Sub-district Sabar Suko, quoted by Antara, Thursday, May 6.

According to the information gathered, mass poisoning occurred after breaking the fast and drinking cendol ice they bought from an ice vendor on Wednesday, May 5. Initially, the victim did not feel any symptoms of poisoning, but after a few hours, dozens of residents began to feel nauseous.

It turned out that the symptoms of poisoning were not only felt by a few people but up to dozens of them where all the victims drink the cendol ice. As a result of the poisoning, 11 people had to be treated at the Jampangtengah Public Health Center and the rest were undergoing outpatient care.

Until now, elements of the District Leadership Conference Jampangtengah are still investigating and have taken cendol ice samples that are suspected of being the cause of the mass poisoning. Some residents who experience symptoms of poisoning have improved.

"This mass poisoning is designated as an extraordinary event and until now we are still monitoring the progress of the poisoning case. For residents who experience mild symptoms, they only undergo outpatient care", he added.

Right on Tuesday, May 4, as many as 24 residents of Ciangkrek Hamlet, Mekarasih Village, Simpenan District, had mass poisoning after eating a dish of pindang fish. Until now, some of the victims are in better health.
