4,932 Students In Jakarta Start To Feel Free Private School Trials

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government carried out free school trials for 4,932 private school students during the new school year 2025/2026 starting today.

Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Education Office, Taga Radja Gah, stated that this trial was carried out in 40 private schools as piloting which had previously been assessed.

"For this year there are 4,932 free private school seats prepared. So, we only received the quota of 4,932 seats," said Taga when contacted, Monday, July 14.

As an initial stage, the free education program that has been piloted this year has not yet targeted all students.

Of the 14,905 students in the 436 study groups in the 40 schools, the DKI Provincial Government has only financed free schools on 4,932 students from 142 study groups who are early classes.

The DKI Provincial Government, continued Taga, also does not tolerate the 40 schools to propose an increase in the number of students in a study group who have been included in the free school trial financing.

"So the amount is adjusted to the agreement that has been agreed between the private school and the Education Office. If for example the school accepts 2 study groups with 64 students, (which are financed) it should not be more than 64," explained Taga.

Then, if there are students from 4,932 who are included in the free school trial who have made previous independent payments, they will receive a refund.

"What if the one that has been recorded? A statement will be made using a stampai that will be returned if the money is disbursed," he explained.
