KPK Public Prosecutor Calls Hasto's IPhone-Number 'Sri Rejeki 3.0 Not Found, Unfounded Defending Pretext

JAKARTA - Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Wawan Yunarwanto stated that the cell phone number named 'Sri Rejeki Hastomo,' which allegedly belonged to the Secretary General of the PDI-P DPP Hasto Kristiyanto, was not found by KPK investigators.

This was conveyed by the Public Prosecutor when reading the replica or response to Hasto's defense note and his team of legal advisers in a follow-up trial in the alleged obstruction of investigations and bribes related to Harun Masiku at the Jakarta Corruption Court.

"The defendant also did not recognize the Apple iPhone 15 mobile phone under the name 'Sri Rejeki 3.0' as his property, and stated that the cellphone and number belonged to the DPP Secretariat," said Wawan in front of the panel of judges quoted from Antara, Monday, July 14.

In the previous memorandum of defense, Hasto stated that the cellphone belonging to Hasto's aide, Kusnadi, was not drowned and investigators had confiscated it as evidence.

However, according to the prosecutor, the confiscated cellphone was the Apple iPhone 11 in the name 'Gara Baskara', not the device allegedly used to communicate with Harun Masiku.

The Public Prosecutor added that two other devices, namely a mobile phone with the username "Kus SS" and one number in the name "Sri Rejeki Hastomo" were not found in the investigation process. On that basis, the Public Prosecutor said that Hasto's excuse and his legal advisers were baseless and deserved to be ruled out.

In this case, Hasto was sentenced to seven years in prison and a fine of Rp600 million, a subsidiary of six months in prison.

He was charged with obstructing the investigation into the interim replacement bribery (PAW) case of DPR RI members of the South Sumatra I electoral district from Riezky Aprilia to Harun Masiku, which occurred between 2019 and 2024.

Hasto allegedly ordered Nur Hasan, the guard of the PDI-P Aspiration House, to submerge Harun's cell phone after the KPU former Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan's arrest by the KPK. He is also said to have ordered his aide, Kusnadi, to drown his cellphone to avoid being confiscated by investigators.

Not only that, Hasto was charged with being with Donny Tri Istiqomah, Saeful Bahri, and Harun Masiku to give 57,350 Singapore dollars (around Rp600 million) to Wahyu Setiawan. The money was given so that Wahyu sought the KPU to approve the PAW application for Harun Masiku.

For his actions, Hasto was charged with violating Article 21 and Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or Article 13 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption, which has been amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, in conjunction with Article 65 paragraph (1), Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st, and Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
