Minister Of Transportation Dudy: Operational Baai Port Gradually Normal
JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi ensured that the operation of the Baai Port, Bengkulu, gradually accelerated towards normal conditions with the existence of Limited Alur Equipment Operational Standards (SOP) in the area.
Dudy said a number of efforts to accelerate the normalization of the area's shipping lanes were also carried out, considering that a number of ships had returned to the shipping lane.
"We are committed to accelerating shipping normalization in the Baai Port area, Bengkulu, for the benefit of the community and the business world in Bengkulu, especially also for the connectivity of Enggano Island. We have made a number of efforts to accelerate this normalization," said Dudy in an official statement, Monday, July 14.
Dudy said that one of the efforts made was to carry out a hydrography survey to ensure the safety of the depth of the flow for ships that will operate at the port of Baai Island.
This activity was carried out by the Class III KSOP of Baai Island together with the Bayur Bayur Bay Navigation District, PT Pelindo Regional 2 Bengkulu, and PT Rukindo as part of the shipping safety mitigation. The reason is, a number of ships have crossed and entered the Baai Port shipping lane.
"Since the shipping flow opened from July 8 to July 13, 2025, there have been 39 ship activities, both those who left and entered the port of Baai. This includes the activities of 12 ships out of 17 vessels that were previously detained and managed to get out of Baai Port," said Dudy.
Dudy said the ship's flow would be concentrated to meet logistical needs to Enggano Island. Among them, basic food, fish, and fuel vessels (BBM) to meet the needs of the local community and revive the economy of the people on Enggano Island.

Meanwhile, the dredging process in the marine area is still being carried out. This dredging of the sea is very necessary so that the port shipping flow can be crossed by large ships optimally, especially after experiencing silting due to sedimentation.
Although dredging activities are carried out, limited shipping lanes remain open, so ships can enter and exit ports. The guide ship will also continue to operate for the next few months.
"We ensure that the ship's guidance is carried out with strict supervision and coordination across agencies. I urge all ship captains and shipping business actors to comply with guidelines from the Guide Officers and continue to prioritize shipping safety during the dredging process," said Dudy.
