Cak Imin: Social Assistance Used For Online Gambling, Get Ready To Be Revoked
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar or who is familiarly called Cak Imin expressed the government's firm stance on the practice of misuse of social assistance (bansos) by recipients to play online gambling (judol).
This statement was made by Cak Imin when met in the TB Simatupang area, South Jakarta, Sunday, July 13. He reminded that social assistance is a state fund that must be used for the basic needs of the poor, not for illegal activities.
"I say that later we will impose sanctions on social assistance users for online gambling," said Cak Imin in a serious tone.
Cak Imin explained that the government had prepared two types of administrative sanctions for social assistance recipients who were proven to have abused aid to play judol, namely:
1. Cut aid if the violation is light or the first time. 2. Revocation of total assistance if the recipient has repeatedly committed a violation.
"The first sanction we can reduce the assistance, and secondly we can withdraw it, we can't help it," he said.
500,000 Accounts Of Social Assistance Recipients Indicated Judol
Based on data from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), the government pocketed a surprising finding, which is that around 500,000 social assistance recipient accounts are suspected of being involved in judol transactions. These findings will soon be followed up through further coordination between agencies.
"That's why I warn all recipients of social assistance, not to be used for online gambling. We will trace the 500,000 people," said Cak Imin.
